belong beyond trauma
Healing with Kolbe Young
Based in ventura county, California
Are you on edge, numb, living between extremes
tired of holding it all together
wrestling with anxiety, doubt, or unwanted behaviors beneath the surface?
There’s a way to safely slow down, heal at the root, and finally love God & neighbor without abandoning yourself.
Hello.
I’m Kolbe.
I’m a husband, father, psychotherapist, writer, and facilitator.
I’m here to create space for the adults who think deeply and feel even deeper to help them finally find the peace and belonging they readily offer yet can never quite receive.
My practice is embodied and deeply human, pulling from my lived and clinical experience, relational neuroscience, evidence-based psychology, and Christian contemplative spirituality.
My Offerings
-
For California residents seeking therapy, I provide trauma-informed psychotherapy for the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of:
PTSD & complex trauma (CPTSD)
anxiety & overthinking
dissociation & emotional numbness
depression
addiction & compulsive behaviors
relational conflict and disconnection
My psychotherapeutic approach is informed by somatic psychology, nervous system regulation, Internal Family Systems, attachment and emotion-focused therapy, and optional faith-based spiritual integration
I practice in Westlake Village at the Catholic Therapy Center, serving clients across Ventura County and California as an Associate Professional Clinical Counselor #18799. Clinical Supervision is with Katelyn Smedley, MS, LMFT #99805
-
For those out of state or seeking a non-clinical modality of care, I offer 1:1 coaching with the intention of cultivating holistic integration and focused on non-clinical goals, including:
nervous system regulation
personal growth
embodiment
faith-integrated healing
These sessions are not psychotherapy treating psychological disorders but offer structured, supportive guidance that are informed by my expertise, persona, and relational style. While not therapy, my coaching modality is still a space for deep presence, accompaniment and inquiry into my clients, yet without any focused attention or care within the medical model of assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for a mental health disorder.

Healing deepens in community. I offer seasonal group experiences virtually over zoom, including:
Incarno is a contemplative movement group designed to be accessible for anyone wishing to grow in nervous system regulation and body and emotional awareness that is faith sensitive and spiritually integrative.
Restore is a trauma-informed psychotherapy group offered virtually for men in CA navigating unwanted sexual behaviors
I love group work because of its unique space and potential for communal healing and support. Group work can deepen a client’s development of safety, presence, and relational healing in a way that 1:1 accompaniment doesn’t capture in the same way.
If you’re curious to join a fall 2026 cohort for either group offering, you can join the waitlist by sending me a message.

Experiential programs offer structured, self-paced pathways into healing.
Blending instruction, guided practices, and contemplative integration, they help you:
regulate your nervous system
reconnect with your body
understand your internal patterns
encounter healing within a spiritual framework

I write reflections and offer video experiences on my Substack newsletter, Grace in the Flesh. This is a place where I’m actively exploring the human condition and our ache for wholeness and belonging. I touch on topics such as:
trauma, the brain, and the nervous system
psychosomatic healing
contemplative spirituality
holistic integration
cultivating presence, embodiment, and place in our daily lives
My writing can feel like part musing, part guided experience, and part thoughtful essay all at once. I write as a practice of invitation and renewal in more deeply exploring ourselves, our experiences, and our practical, evidence-based steps toward a life worth living.
